BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team Mulai Berlatih di Zolder
BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team memulai aktivitas mereka pasca lockdown di sirkuit Zolder, Belgia. Mereka sangat senang bisa kembali turun ke lintasan dan bekerja di pit.
Tim Belgia yang mendapat dukungan penuh dari BMW ini memilih sirkuit Zolder sebagai titik kumpul usai lockdown yang diakibatkan oleh pandemi virus corona. Terlepas dari ketidakhadiran Ilya Mikhalchik yang masih belum bisa meninggalkan Ukraina dan juga Markus Reiterberger yang berhalangan hadir, Kenny Foray mampu menunjukkan kemampuannya secara maksimal. Foray pun berkesempatan menjajal S 1000 RR yang telah dipersiapkan secara khusus untuk 24 Heures Motos dan Bol d’Or.
Ajang ini juga jadi kali pertama seluruh kru BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team yang datang dari berbagai negara untuk berkumpul dan berlatih demi memperbaiki waktu pit stop dan menyiapkan strategi memperbaiki motor dadakan saat balapan.
Steven Casaer, sang direktur teknis: “Kami menunjukkan kemajuan yang memuaskan. Kami mencoba berbagai metode parkir motor dan menemukan satu yang bisa dilakukan lebih cepat dan efisien, khususnya untuk penggantian rem. Kami belum sempat berlatih secara maksimal, tetapi lebih baik punya persiapan dan tahu apa yang akan dilakukan nantinya. Kami tadi sempat berlatih memperbaiki motor setelah crash. Para mekanik melakukan pekerjaan yang bagus, tetapi saya berharap kami tidak perlu berlatih untuk hal ini.”
Kenny Foray, rider: “Senang rasanya bisa berada di Zolder. Ini adalah kali pertama saya bisa kembali memacu motor setelah tiga bulan yang rasanya panjang sekali. Kami menguji beberapa part dan di akhir sesi saya melahap beberapa putaran untuk bersenang-senang. Sekarang saya sudah tidak sabar kembali ke Le Mans pertengahan Juli nanti. Saya ingin kembali membalap secepat mungkin dengan persiapan yang maksimal.”
Werner Daemen, manajer tim: “Di Zolder kami berfokus menguji beberapa bagian motor dan Kenny melakukan pekerjaannya dengan sangat baik. Kami berlatih secara berkelompok dan berusaha melakukan pit stop secepat mungkin. Tentu saja kami mengikuti protokol keselamatan yang baru dan berusaha beradaptasi dengan baik menjelang sesi tes dan balapan yang akan datang.”

First roll out for the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team in a private test on the Circuit ZolderLast week, for the first time since the start of the corona pandemic, a scaled-down version of the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team was found at Circuit Zolder in Belgium to test a few new parts for the BMW S 1000 RR as part of a track day by the Motorsportschool Zolder. Kenny Foray came all the way from France and was looking forward to his first laps in three long months. It wasn't really an endurance test, but it was an important gathering of the team to get workflows and equipment as prepared as possible for the next big event – the 24 hours race at the Circuit Bugatti in Le Mans, France in August.Kenny Foray:“It was really great to be in Zolder. It was the first time that I had been able to ride the motorcycle in three long months. We tested a few parts and at the end of the day I did a few laps just for fun. The feeling was incomparable! I was so happy to be able to work with my team again. I am now looking forward to next test in Le Mans, mid-July. I want to get back on the racetrack as soon as possible and I think we are very well prepared. ”Werner Daemen, Team Manager:“We started testing again as a team last week. It is still difficult to travel in Europe, but it should be possible again from mid-June. We tested the teamwork and tried to get even faster. Of course, we followed the new security measures based on COVID-19, also to get used to them for the following tests and events. At Zolder we focused on testing new parts and Kenny did a really good job.
